The use or purpose of a Participant within the production process. The Participant As Function describes the formal title of the Participant within a production. Thinking of a given person as the first assistant director as opposed to John Doe is very useful to the Participants in a production.

The combination of a Task and the Participant responsible for it. All Participants have a job to do – otherwise they would not be Participants. From the producer and director through to VFX artists, gaffers, and caterers, every Participant has a role to fill, a job to do, a task to perform.
